The Great West Run
The Great West Run passes the end of Helen and Ian's road and at a nearby crossroads one can see the runners on five occasions as they go along their route.
Jo and I went to have a look at the 2,300 runners on Sunday morning.
Kairn Stone - wearing number 1 - was the eventual winner of this half marathon in a time of 1 hour, 9 minutes and five seconds. Number two, Tom Merson, came in second, two seconds behind him.
There were a few folk in fancy costumes.
This is Mike Feighan - one of the serious runners - who finished in sixth place in 1 hour 14 mins and 57 secs.
This is Barrie Canner who walked the course from the beginning and was lapped as the leaders approached the finish. Nevertheless he finished the course in 3 hours 5 minutes. Well done, Barrie.
The children's race was taken seriously by some!
