ALVIS

One of the things I like about GB’s New Zealand Blog is all the old cars that he sees around North Island. Just occasionally we see a beautiful one here in the UK that is worth a posting such as this Alvis that was in Stornoway a fortnight ago. Perhaps GB may be able to tell me the model.

  1. I'm reasonably certain (which is about as far as I go in the certainty stakes these days)that it is a TC21. Probably a TC21/100. They were built between 1953 and 1955 and, according to my book on the subject, 757 of them were made and they were the last Alvis with a "pre-war" body. The engine (gosh - the days when just one engine was offered) was a 2993cc 6-cylinder unit producing 101 bhp at 4000 revs.
