The sun was shining, there was no wind, and despite the lawn still being full of frost it was quite warm (3°C) outside yesterday morning.
But, boy, oh boy, the water feature wasn't warm. Three inches of ice at the front and two at the back! It's not been anything like that icy in the four years we've been here.

Everything's snow and ice in my world this time of year, so 3 degrees Celsius (which, if I remember my conversions correctly, is about 38 Fahrenheit - we're not smart enough to switch to Metric here in the states) sounds pretty good!
ReplyDeleteWarm and ice are usually two words that I find to be mutually exclusive when I am referring to my surrounds. Two exceptions: ice in a drink on a warm day and ice outside a window when i am inside beside a fire.
ReplyDeletehaha, Mary Ellen (I was wondering what that would make our temp. without searching the 'net to find the answer).
ReplyDeleteToday, where I am...it's about 17 Fahrenheit and only looking to be colder through the following week. Aaaggghh and brrrr.
Unbelievable timing! I measured our ice only yesterday. Ours is 2 inches thick in the small pond and just under 2 inches in the big pond. The only way to break it is to stamp on it in my wellies. Luckily there are no fish under there.
ReplyDeleteGreetings from Finland! Thank you for visiting in my blog. It is nice to hear that you liked my pictures. As you noticed, we have lots of ice and snow! Please visit my blog again..

Some ice in my glass of water would be nice; here in the southern hemisphere we perspire in 34°C of summer humidity, interspersed with cool spells plus some violent thunderstorms.
ReplyDeleteWe're at 28 F. This morning we had about 2" of snow, and now it's sleeting/freezing raining outside, with 2-4 more inches of snow promised overnight. Would gladly trade weather!
ReplyDeleteSorry Blusstalking, no trade. My wife just went back to bed with a hot water bottle at the mere thought!
ReplyDeleteI don't have an outdoor thermometer, but we do have a nice covering of snow. Nowhere near as much as most of the country, though, which is a pity.
