One of my favourite views on the whole Isle of Lewis and yet it has no sea in it.
When they've been there as long as these two have I reckon they count as structures!
Can't get much more neglected that that.
It may be neglected but it's useful for drying the fishing nets.
One I played with to turn into a 'watercolour'!

A GIVEAWAY
This week Silke at Metamorphosis is running a Giveaway. The prize is a girl called Sophia. I thoroughly recommnend you take a trip there and leave a comment. Silke's pictures of girls' faces are unique and each girl has such a different character shining from her (mainly through her eyes and posture). One of them captivated me so much I couldn't resist going to Silke's Etsy shop and buying her. If you enter I wish you good luck!
You made my day today, John! That's for sure!! Thank you so much for purchasing Maya and for linking to my giveaway. :)
ReplyDeleteAnd then these images of Scotland again - they are calling to me. I have such a love for stark landscapes and weathered countryside. I think that's why I loved the american Southwest so much when we lived there.
I always love visiting here! xo Silke
Oooh! Neglected structures!! Can't get much more "my thing" than that! Thank you for this beautiful and interesting set of pictures.
ReplyDeleteI sometimes tell "young people" who feel they have run out of options that they will look back at this time and realize they are younger than they thought and have options that they could see if only they opened their eyes and hearts.
ReplyDeleteTotally neglected or abandoned. How come no people came to visit this place is this away from the main island? Beautiful view thanks for sharing.

How strange - we were on the Pentland Road today. Saw several Shielings just like in your picture. Didnt see the abandoned buses though. Actually, I dont think they are abandoned. The Crofters over here quite often use old buses as stores for animal feed, bits of fencing and any other "treasures" they wish to keep out on the moor.
ReplyDeleteLove to you and Jo
Great choices and composition. The 3rd one is perfect in b&w.
ReplyDeleteA great collection. The first shot would suit an "isolated" tag as well as abandoned. Love the "watercolour".
ReplyDeleteOh, what beautiful countryside! Those neglected structures look so wild and interesting!! Will check out some of the other FMTSO and the link to Metamorphosis...Cheers!
ReplyDeleteYou made neglected look pretty good. Great shots.

I am more mesmerized by the surrounding view in that first shot, simply beautiful! I'm from an urban country, surrounded by high rise buildings, and man-made parks, so such view from your country awed me.
ReplyDeleteI like what you did with the watercolor although the black and white on the bluff is...well, you said it: "You can't get more abanndoned that that!" Great collection. You live in a beautiful and stark place.
ReplyDeleteall beautiful, the bus is my favorite.
ReplyDeletehaven't you ever heard the phrase - a sea of grass...? great shots. I like the b&w - I considered changing some photos I had from here in Rio to B&W to emphasize the abandonment... I wasn't happy with any of the results...but your is grea.
ReplyDeletehave a great week.
Love the third shot, I can only guess that the wind goes through the big hole in it to allow the rest to remain standing. Stark but very beautiful islands.
ReplyDeleteYour photos all say "neglected." It's amazing how lovely they are in spite of being left to fall apart.
ReplyDeleteWonderful photos for this theme. My favourite is the first, I love the earthy colours against the blue sky and distant mountains.
ReplyDeleteI have been reading the Lewis crime novels and enjoyed them very much. I love the b/w pic.
