I have decided to do I is for Iris. Choosing a favourite flower is an invidious task but if I had to do so there is no doubt Iris would be high on my short-list.
And I couldn't have the letter I without showing you an Insect or two, This is a hoverfly hovering.
And a Bumblebee flying past.
And where do insects come from? Insect eggs, of course.
If you would like to see more examples of how the letter I has been handled by the Alphabet Wednesday crew please visit the ABC link site.
The Iris' are magnificent. The bugs aren't bad either.
ReplyDeleteMarvelous post and photos! I, too, love irises and am always so sad when they don't last very long. Yours are absolutely gorgeous!

Iris's are my favorite flower. Great shots. Blessings, Debbbie
ReplyDeleteA set of truly remarkable pictures. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteLovely flowers. I saw my first bumblebee for the season today! Not close enough to take a photo though.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous flowers. I love irises too. Once when I was in hospital, the lady in the adjoining bed received some orchids. The nurse whispered to me, "Just like iris only smaller and more expensive!" I like both. I guess it all depends on your point of view!
ReplyDeleteWow I just Iris' they are so beautiful! Your pics capture their true colors too! I am such a fan of flowers, especially roses! But I do have to admit that these are amazing!
ReplyDeleteOooh, irises have always been one of my very favorite flowers too, and yours are incomparable! I love the photo of the first one best, with the sunlight shining through the petals - so pretty! But the second and third ones are my favorite specimens of the group. Those colors in both are just gorgeous, and the details in the third one are incredible!
ReplyDeleteI've spent many a sweaty afternoon chasing various flying insects (especially bees) with my camera from flower to flower only to usually end up with photos containing no insect at all or just the vaguest blur. They are not easy to capture, so I'm impressed with your hovering hoverfly and cruising bumblebee! And those pretty insect eggs, like little emeralds - what a special group of photos! Thanks for sharing them!
That insect shot is stunning! Flowers are great too, but mostly unmoving; this is an action shot!
