All this week I am running a Giveaway. The rules are simple. Drop a comment on any of this week's postings (Saturday 3rd to Saturday 10th inclusive) and I'll put the names of all those who have commented in a hat (assuming I can find one – it may have to be a saucepan or some other substitute) and draw out the winner on Sunday 11th. The winner will receive one of the books shown in my Giveaway post on Sunday. I look forward to all your comments.
Jenny Woolf is also running a giveaway this week - check out her delightful little prizes here.

Oops, there I was thinking this week's FMTSO was just front doors. I forgot the word 'inviting'.
Fortunately the door of Partner-who-drinks-tea's office is always open so that's inviting.
Lots of other doors to be seen in Rodney Street, Liverpool, UK.
This one doesn't look very inviting to me! Perhaps it's the double doors or the Letting sign. But the steps are well worn so plenty of people have found it inviting in the past.
And my very favourite (ugh, your English is getting worse, Scriptor) is this arched one, around the corner in Knight Street.
If you would like to see what inviting front doors other members of the gang have found please click on this FMTSO link.
Nice doors!
ReplyDeleteDoors and doorways are a particularly fascinating subject for me. Years ago, I have created a whole album of them; I wonder whether you can view this:

Since I do not really visit MySpace anymore, I may transfer all my pictures etc. from there and have my profile deleted one of these days.
I can't access your album, Librsrian. I suspect one needs a My Space account and even then I'm not sure it would do it. I'd like to see your photos on your blog one day though.
DeleteThose are beautiful - they remind me of doors here in Savannah! I should take my camera this weekend and do a similar post. Our door here at home is bright orange - makes us both happy! We have a thing for brightly colored doors... Happy Friday!! Silke
ReplyDeletewhat about no 10. Will you take me there if I visit UK?
ReplyDeleteAll the doors look so inviting to me!
ReplyDeleteI'm a sucker for an arched door. And I find the red doors inviting!
ReplyDeleteWhat grand front doors you have, they are all great but I do agree with you about the red arched one. My very favourite too!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for linking to my giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI don't think closed doors are usually very inviting but I have to say I just love the ones in Knight St. and do find pointy doors quite irresistible. Red is the nicest colour, too.
I love pictures of doors and windows. Unfortunately I've not been very consistent at tagging my photos, I know I must have lots of doors, but finding them is a different matter. Somehow Friday came upon me very suddenly this week. (Come to think of it, though, it has a tendency to do that almost every week!) I did find a few though so have put up a post now. My favourite from yours here is the last one with two different-looking red doors next to each other.
ReplyDeleteI love red doors. I am thinking about painting my door red. The worn steps are interesting too. It would take a lot of steps to wear the concrete down.

Love these! The fanlights and the pediments and pilasters add so much. Pity more of the new homes don't have them. We'd put one on our front door, but the roof line is too low and there's no room. So a plain opening, with a green door, with a brass lion's head door knocker it is.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend. xoxo
All of the doors are fascinating and I feel invited by even the closed ones...of course, I love to go through doors anywhere. But I think the most inviting one is of Partner-who-drinks-tea's office.
ReplyDeleteThanks for offering a peek into the doorways of your life. Lovely!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Mark, an open door is always the most inviting. Red doors always appeal to me, too. All your doors look as I expect a British door to look. No doubt I would be in for many disappointments as I'm sure they are not all as lovely as these.
ReplyDeleteclosed doors have more mystery than invitation. unless red or someother bright paint. I skipped the inviting altogether and just did interesting. I like the two red doors, side by side and still individual.
ReplyDeleteAll wonderful, but I very much like the arched one in the last photo.
ReplyDeleteWow, I love the red doors, and the historical feel to the buildings. All look very inviting to me and the door knockers just add a little something extra.
