More exploring

Just as exciting as exploring jewellery boxes is working one’s way through old writing slopes and old dressing cases.

This three inch long tube came from the latter. Can you guess what it contains?

The answer may not be its original purpose. It contains a little phial of iodine. I wonder if it once held a little scent phial or smelling salts? Or did it have some other purpose?

  1. That is so interesting, Sir - I am still in search of a Georgian, more likely Victorian, writing slope that has my name upon it... There is something about knowing it was in use when so many wonderful authors were writing missives, novels, letters, that is magical to me... Some day...
