  1. They sure are long scissors! Wouldn't do any embroidery with them on air travel.

  2. Yes, indeed I do. I have a small collection of them, but none quite so impressive as any of these! I wonder how they were used--they look quite large so I think for fine small embroidery they would be unwieldy--then again maybe they are not quite as big as I am imagining them. Very cool. I tend to stick my scissors into the bags of projects, but then I will put away projects not realizing there is a pair of scissors in the bags, so I am not sure where some of mine have gone off to! Love the photo!

  4. Beautiful scissors. When I was a child we never seemed to be able to find the scissors -- or pencils for that matter. So now I have scissors in almost every room and certainly pencils too. Big question is, are they sharp enough to cut well? I got so fed up with scissors that wouldn't cut properly I bought some from a manufacturer. Likewise, with pencils I have two or three electric pencil sharpeners around the house as well as a handful of little ones. And I MUCH prefer pencils to pens.

I wonder if these scissors have anything to do with weaving or rug making.

  5. My Dad used to collect scissors. In our old house, one living room wall was entirely dedicated to scissors. There was everything from tiny embroidery scissors (in the shape of a stork) to sheep shearing scissors that were half the length of a man's arm. He still has the ones he used to have back then, but the collection is not growing any more, and not on display in the living room at my parents' place of today.

  6. I love my stork scissors that I have had (and used!) since 1980. They were made in Japan and are useful and beautiful, my two favorite things!!

  7. Those are very interesting scissors to look at. I have a collection of scissors, but only because I can never find any when I'm looking for them. Mine are just regular modern and blahsai' looking.

  9. Beautiful yet menacing at the same time.
A murder mystery weapon for sure.
