I have been known to complain about how early
Christmas goods appear in the shops. It is
one of my best known ‘Grumpy Old Man’ themes.
But now I have another.
Partner-who-loves-tea and I were in Marks and Spencer’s food store in
Heswall yesterday (i.e. the Seventh Day of Christmas) and guess what we found on
the shelves.
To quote Victor Meldrew "I do not believe it!"
Happy New Year Grumpy Old Man!
ReplyDeleteIs it not standard these days to replace things on the Christmas aisles with Easter products, and things on the Halloween aisle with Christmas goods? It's been following that pattern here for a few years.
And a Happy New Year to you too.
DeleteI can almost accept the replacing policy but, jeepers, Christmas isn't even over yet!!
I agree that Christmas isn't over, but I'm no longer shopping for Christmas chocolates etc. Perhaps if everyone feels like that then there's no point in the shops keeping the Christmas things on the shelves past Christmas Day.
DeleteOh! For a moment there, I thought you were in HAWAII! My poor eyes.
ReplyDeleteEaster chocolate? Bring it on!
OMG!!! This is so annoying the way they want our year to move on so that they can make money. Imagine how stale this candy will be by Easter.
ReplyDeleteStill plenty of Christmas choccies in the shops here, at reduced prices now. But I am sure it is only a question of weeks before the first Easter bits appear on the shelves.
ReplyDeleteI don't mind - I simply don't buy them until I feel it is time.
WOW! I was in the store today - here, it's Valentine's Day.
ReplyDeleteA blessed and beautiful Happy New Year to you and everyone you love! They should be putting out king cakes, Mardi Gras beads, and Valentine Cards. At least, that's what we are seeing around here.
ReplyDeleteHelp! What are King Cakes, please?
DeleteMaybe if they called them Mardi Gras eggs it would make just a little better sense.
ReplyDeleteWHAT??? I can't believe it....way too early.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year to you and your family CJ!!
