Mindfulness

Mindfulness is defined as a mental state achieved by focusing one's awareness on the present moment, while calmly acknowledging and accepting one's feelings, thoughts, and bodily sensations, used as a therapeutic technique.  I was amused to see on a therapist friend’s Facebook page that there is now a Ladybirds for Adults book on Mindfulness.  I hadn’t even realised there were Ladybirds for Adults until I saw that.

I bought it for Partner-who-drinks-tea and she laughed out loud as she read me extracts.  In my view it is an essential for the therapist in your life!

  1. While I understand Clive's approach to lending his friends money, I think he'd gain a lot if he could be bothered to meet them :-)
Sounds like a fun book to read!

  3. That is priceless! It would certainly help my mental health to be able to laugh through such a book!

  5. I would like those books too except for the backstory. Penguin has ignored Ladybird for years and then they ripped off the idea for these Ladybird for Adults books from a struggling artist and are making loads of money from her idea. http://www.theguardian.com/books/2015/oct/14/dung-beetle-spoofs-ladybird-after-books-copyright-row Of course, mind you, she should have cleared the copyright for their illustrations... but she arguably owns the copyright of the idea for these books. It just leaves a rather nasty taste.

  10. Love and Laughter are certainly the best medicine there is so worth having a look at all the book as I found many of the pages made me laugh out loud.

Interesting your comment Jenny about the back story - I hadn't heard of it and will certainly look it up.

I hope there is lots of love and laughter for everyone in 2016.
