This week's subject for the Friday My Town Shoot-out is Bridges (in black and white) chosen by Elaine Dale.
This is called the bridge Across the Atlantic and joins the islands of Lewis and Great Bernera.
This is, effectively, another bridge across an arm of the Atlantic being the over the menai Straits joining Anglesey to North Wales. (Photo by my uncle E S Body).
And another Scottish bridge - this is the Bridge to the Isle of Skye.
These two bridges that are almost hidden in the undergrowth.
And a couple of Cornish bridges - including an ancient clapper bridge.

Love the bridges, especially the little stone packhorse bridges. I can see the 18th cent. carriages clip-clopping across the rivers.

Those little old Cornish bridges - how cute are they?? A wonderful collection. Good to hear you are steadily improving. No, not your photography, that is always excellent, I meant your health.
ReplyDeleteThe camoflaged, overgrown bridges look like shadows in the brush. Amazing shots.
ReplyDeleteMy wife and I drove across the bridge to the Isle of Skye a few years ago, so your photo brought back many memories.
ReplyDeleteLike Mark, I found the overgrown bridges just amazing. Doing a black and white shoot was a great idea.
Love the hidden bridges. It is fun to go out looking for those. There is a lot of new highway in my town and a lot of abandoned road.

Those ancient bridges are pure magic. It would be so easy to spin tales about them. Have a great weekend! Elaine
ReplyDeleteOh my ..I just love them all! The very last is my favorite though..I love it ..so beautifully worn! I do so enjoy coming here and seeing your part of the world. Wonderful hon, Sarah

I'm glad to see some really old bridges; think what a chore it must have been to haul, shape and put into place that old clapper bridge. (But it sure has lasted a long time!)
ReplyDeleteI'm really liking those hidden bridges with the overgrowth...so mysterious and curious to me.
ReplyDeleteI am partial to the last four photos. love all the plants that have overtaken the bridges. very mystical looking.
ReplyDeleteOh, I just adore those stone bridges with all the ivy...but I think the first shot is my favorite. :)
ReplyDeleteGreat bridges, Scriptor.
ReplyDeleteHey, I've been over that bridge to Skye! for an exceptional weekend with my brother, one of our best moments together.
I really like the two nearly reclaimed by the undergrowth.
Wow, you found some great old stone bridges. I love the character just calling for further investigation.
ReplyDeleteIt IS hard to have a fav over here, but the undergrowth have a place in my heart...as a child I would (in my head) see images of trolls, and magical life in that over/under growth...beautiful, a masters hand on the camera!
ReplyDeleteLove bridges as a subject of photography. I like thinking of the history of the bridge.
