Friday My Town Shoot-out – Bridges in Black and White

This week's subject for the Friday My Town Shoot-out is Bridges (in black and white) chosen by Elaine Dale.

This is called the bridge Across the Atlantic and joins the islands of Lewis and Great Bernera.

This is, effectively, another bridge across an arm of the Atlantic being the over the menai Straits joining Anglesey to North Wales. (Photo by my uncle E S Body).

And another Scottish bridge - this is the Bridge to the Isle of Skye.

These two bridges that are almost hidden in the undergrowth.

And a couple of Cornish bridges - including an ancient clapper bridge.

If you would like to see other members' shoot-outs please go to the link page.

  1. Love the bridges, especially the little stone packhorse bridges. I can see the 18th cent. carriages clip-clopping across the rivers.

  3. The camoflaged, overgrown bridges look like shadows in the brush. Amazing shots.

  4. My wife and I drove across the bridge to the Isle of Skye a few years ago, so your photo brought back many memories.

Like Mark, I found the overgrown bridges just amazing. Doing a black and white shoot was a great idea.

  5. Love the hidden bridges. It is fun to go out looking for those. There is a lot of new highway in my town and a lot of abandoned road.

  9. I'm glad to see some really old bridges; think what a chore it must have been to haul, shape and put into place that old clapper bridge. (But it sure has lasted a long time!)
