Today’s Black and White Tuesday has a School Theme.
Miss Grieg (pronounced Gregg) – Mum’s favourite teacher at Calder, c 1925. She would have been my favourite as well – motorbike, dog, what more could anyone want! Have you seen the brilliant horn on the motorbike!
Mum’s Geography and History teachers – Miss Clifford and Miss MacGregor – Calder High, 1925. Oh, so stylish.
Dad in school uniform looking positively angelic - c 1920.
And his 1920 school photo (Birkenhead School) shows some very smart folk - how about the boy with the watch chain on the back row - next to end on the left.

You're right, your dad does look angelic. Must be where you get it from! :0)

I sure love your scans! No wonder Mrs. Grieg was a favorite teacher. She looks like she embraced life.
ReplyDeleteWhat a cool teacher, I didn't know there were such outdoorsy women teachers way back then!
ReplyDeleteWow! I love looking at photos from the past. It is so amazing how far picture taking has come! What will it be like when our grandchildren are blogging. HMMM they will say "what in the world is blogging?" wish I could be around to see the technology in 50 years!
