You learn an awful lot of miscellaneous stuff on the television’s antiques programmes. Believe it or not, immediately following my comment on GB’s blog that Thomas the Tank Engine looked a bit sophisticated to be a soap box, two of the contestants on Bargain Hunt were into soap box racing for charity. Their ‘soap box’ had disc brakes, independent suspension and so on.
Didn’t stop it crashing at Richard’s Castle as this amateur footage showed.
The driver looked old enough to have more sense!
What do you mean "The driver looked old enough to have more sense"? He looks just about the right age (and he has une barbe grise) to have the attitude commensurate with such daring do.
