Jo rescued this starfish - once placed on soft sand it buried itself in less than 30 seconds.
More rescuing to be done...
There's a starfish under there somewhere.

This post makes me curiouser, and curiouser! What would happen had they not been in soft sand? Why wouldn't they bury themselves when the sand was soft?
ReplyDeleteGoing online now. Great photos of the starfish!
Wow, I had no idea there are so many starfish in the North Sea! If Jo didn't rescue them, I suppose the seagulls would eat them before they'd die of dehydration?
ReplyDeleteGive Jo a hug from me...a worthy job.

"You're not the only starfish in the sea"... Quick, what song does this come from? (Showing my age, here.)
ReplyDeleteThese photos were worth the wait. Just beautiful! Well done to Jo.
Kay, it was either Judith Durham or Judith Durham and the Seekers but I can't recall the title. That does take me back.
ReplyDeleteRed Rubber Ball was the title - but I had to Google it!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely study of burying yourself in the sand, literally. Neat series of photos.
ReplyDeleteLibrarian. It's just clicked with me that you mentioned the North Sea. The Hebrides and the East coast of Scoland are on the Atlantic. I'm not very familiar with England or Scotland's East coast so I'm not sure about the North Sea.
ReplyDeleteCheck out Kay G.'s great post about the starfish and 'Red rubber ball'!
