Friday My Town Shoot-out – A Few of my Favourite Things

This week's subject for the Friday My Town Shoot-out is A Few of my Favourite Things chosen by the Town Blogger Team. I have decided to ignore the approach of Christmas and simply to take photos from one day out in June 2008 when I was staying with GB and a friend, David, kindly took me over to the West side of the Isle of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides.  So many favourite things in the one day - including, of course, being with family and friends.

The sunrise and the mountains.

The birds of the air.  This baby Skylark was temporarily stunned by hitting the study window.  He flew off OK after a while.

The sea and the sky.  (And deserted beaches).

A cosy fire.  This was in an Iron Age hut.

The sun's rays.

Telephone boxes out in the wild.

Seedheads.

Buildings old...

and buildings new.

Stormy waves.

And wild flowers.

Of course, this post wouldn't be complete without:-"Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens, bright copper kettles and warm woollen mittens..."

  8. Lovely photos, especially the sunrise one.
The one of the red phone box reminded me of the final scenes in the movie, "Waking Ned Devine."

And I loved the stuff on the word of the day, about solidus. It's a word I've never heard before. Thanks for the info.

    Have a good day!

  17. I love the beach shots, so awesome!
Does that telephone in the red booth still works?

  18. Yes, Jama, the phone still works and there are a number of these isolated phone boxes around the more rural parts of England, Wales and Scotland. Some of them are now protected by legislation to stop them being taken away even if the phone company decides to disocnnect them.
