My Mum always likened the hills of the Isle of
Harris to a moonscape and it would not surprise one to see a moon-buggy
suddenly round the corner of these rocks…

I really enjoyed my time on South Harris. No moon buggy but I did see Elvis and a London bus.
ReplyDeleteAnd that is before the Harris distillery has produced its first whisky!!!
DeleteLooks like the beginning of the earth.
ReplyDeleteIn fact, Harris was used for a filming location for the movie "2001: A Space Odyssey". So your mum was right on target there!
ReplyDeleteI love how landscapes have their own unique beauty. I prefer green and color but the rocks have an interesting look that does make your imagination work! I would love some of the rock for my gardens! I remember when I was little and my family took a trip out west (in the U.S.) and we stopped at the painted desert. I thought it was hot and very ugly. Flash forward to being an adult and taking my own kids there and I was blown away by it's beauty that I didn't notice as a child. They were more excited about it than I was at their age..thankfully! I really appreciated the pretty postcard you sent! I hope you're enjoying yourself and have a wonderful week!
ReplyDeleteExept for the green, it does resemble moonscapes. Maybe it's close to what that other earth-like planet that's just been noted by science looks like; it's fun to dream about such things, wondering.
ReplyDeleteMy Mum used to say the same!
ReplyDeleteIt certainly does look like a moonscape, especially the first photo.
ReplyDeleteIs that gold you found in the last picture...? ;)
ReplyDeleteI've never wanted to go to outer space but I've always wanted to visit the outer edges of this earth. I wish it was flat so I could do that!! I think of the Isle of Harris as one of those outer edges and can't wait to get there.
