I woke up the other morning and decided to pay
a trip to the bird table that my human friend GB keeps stocked stacked with
peanuts and seeds. He really looks after
us small birds and spends much of his time devising new ways of keeping those
bossy Pigeons from stealing all our feed before we can get a look in. His latest invention will no doubt appear on
his blog in the near future. Any way, I’m
getting side=tracked. My mind does that
sometimes. Which could explain why I
flew into the invisible force fiekd that separates his kitchen from the garden.
And there I was, gazing at the Great Skua in
the Sky. Fortunately, despite first appearances, it was a real Great
Skua, not the one that carries a scythe.
The human staying with GB picked me up and warmed
up my shocked little body.
Gradually I was able to stand on my own two
feet.
Then I did a little pirouette to show him my
pretty tail.
He put me down on a little wall but I was
still a bit shocked so he moved me again into the bushes whence I disappeared
quite quickly – a much happier ending than the human or I had initially anticipated.
You were a very lucky little finch.
ReplyDeleteWhen I saw the first picture and the headline of this post appear on my dashboard, my first thought was "oh no! poor little bird, he's dead..."
ReplyDeleteBut this must have been the little greenfinch's lucky day, because his accident happened when you were there to pick him up and make sure he was safe.
Sweet, John. "a bird in the hand . . . ." McGregor
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the happy ending of this! I hope you & GB are enjoying each other. I miss my brother- the only person who experienced myr life with me, including my parents who were working, of course.
ReplyDeleteAh, so glad the little guy is alright.
ReplyDeleteWonderful!
ReplyDeletePoor little bird! So glad you were able to rescue him. xoxox
ReplyDeleteSO glad he's all right - good on you!
ReplyDeleteThat's lovely! :-)
ReplyDeleteOh, those invisible force fields! We have them here, too, i'm sorry to say, and one of your distant cousins flew into one at my Sweetie's work a few weeks ago. Sweetie picked him up and when he was able to stand again, put him on a high pillar where he wouldn't be seen, with a small cup of water and a bit of seed. He stayed there a while, and ate and drank, and then flew away.
ReplyDeleteIt's always best when we humans leave you to recover that way.
So glad this post had such a happy ending!!
ReplyDeleteI'm very glad the story had a happy ending.
ReplyDeleteWhen I saw the first photo my mind suddenly flew to 'Who killed cock robin?' Who did?
ReplyDeleteYou're a bird whisperer! I went from sad to glad in nano seconds. :) Thank you.
