This week's subject for the Friday My Town Shoot-out is sounds - chosen by NanU from Aubière in France.
Gosh, what a challenge, I thought. And then I realised it was really quite easy – all I had to do was sit and listen. And this is what I heard...
Traffic:-
Birdsong -a Dunnock singing, even though it is winter:-
An aeroplane:-
(OK, it wasn’t the RAF Red Arrows display team but I thought I’d cheat and use this photo from last time I was at the Formula 1 Grand Prix at Silverstone).
And here is the sound for which Liverpool is known the whole world over:-
I don't have a photo of the other most important sound from my home town - the Liverpool fans singing 'You'll never walk alone' on the Kop. So here is one I took off the television:-
If you would like to see other members' shoot-outs please go to the link page.

Please stop and give me a ride in your red car, what ever it is.
ReplyDeleteI like the jet plane formation.
I love the picture of the jets passing by, I get that here too, but they are too fast to be captured! unless at the air show.
ReplyDeleteI love the shot of the bird singing.
ReplyDeleteLucky you to have such famous sounds. I will have "You'll never walk alone" ringing in my ears all night now!! The football crowd version, with thousands of voices, a wonderful, wonderful sound indeed.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, Pauline, Liverpool supporters don't have too much to celebrate at the moment - we keep getting knocked out of Cup competitions - but we did win last Wednesday.
ReplyDeleteThanks SOL.
One of the disadvantages of so many planes in the sky, Jama, is that they leave vapour trails and ruin some good sky photos.
I wish it was my red car, Ann! It is a Ferrari and belonged to Ian Callaghan who was a famous Liverpool football player (hence the registration M Ian C which was really M1ANC cleverly arranged).
Great shot of the FC! My Nephew loves Liverpool, I got him a uniform for Christmas!
ReplyDeleteNice Shootout, Scriptor! I love that Dunnock singing its little heart out.
ReplyDeleteMy Honda S-2000 is in love. But couldn't get the time of day from that Ferrari. And the Cavern Club. I'm turning green with envy that you were shooting speed in the air and on the ground at the Formula 1 Grand Prix. Turning green, however, makes no sound.
ReplyDeleteOh yes, I love that Ferrari and I bet I'd love the sound of its engine!
ReplyDeleteAs a big Beatles fan I have to get to the Cavern Club one day. I didn't know they'd put up statues of the Fab Four.
You have a collection of interesting sounds here. I'll have to show my son the Farrari - he'll get a kick out of that.
ReplyDeleteBTW - You might be interested in my post from Tuesday. I caught photos of a hawk having lunch!
Ohhh wonderful! The jets..amazing what a shot!! Wow! I would like a car ride in that baby too!!
ReplyDeleteGreat sounds!! Sarah
The car brings noises of Magnum PI into my head...I love listening to the geese as they pass over wa wa wa wa, and birds singing tweet, well, more than my rendition!
ReplyDeleteWe used to go watch air shows when I lived near an airport, well my father said we had air shows daily and nightly as they took off!
I love that you got the Beatles in there! It just couldnt be complete without it!
ReplyDeleteExcellent choices! I'll have to show my better half the Beatles shots. Now I'm going to search YouTube to see if someone has posted video of the fans singing...
ReplyDeletenice sculptures of the Beatles. and the car!! varoom varoooooooooommmmmmmmmm!!
ReplyDeleteFound a link for the song on YouTube and have posted it to my facebook page - it's great!
ReplyDeleteGreat job! I don't know how you caught that bird singing, but I love it!
ReplyDeleteAnd the jets...practice, practice, practice.
Yes, Liverpool will never be the same after those boys!!!
I've seen that car!
ReplyDeleteAnd the sound of The Beatles will outlast us all.
At least skytrails can be 'erased' from photos these days!
Love this post, John! It is usually so very educational to visit your site, and this time, you inspired me to look up the history of the song, "You'll Never Walk Alone". I also watched the Liverpool fans singing it on YouTube. Then, I had to look up "Kop."
ReplyDeleteDifferent cultures...amazing and inspiring.
;^)
Great photos...and the statues of the Beatles!!! Now another addition on my list of places I "must visit."
;^)
I'll be visiting Liverpool in July when my son's band will be playing in The Cavern Club. It'll be their most honoured venue. Snap-bloody-happy I'll be that night!
ReplyDeletelove this post! I think the jets photo was my favorite.
ReplyDeleteS.S., I nominated you for a blogger award! Come by and check it out.
