Cats

This must be the longest non-blogging period I've ever had apart from hospital times.  I have various things to tell you but they pale into insignificance in the light of what happened yesterday.

We went here...


We went to the Centre for two related outdoor kittens, or at least cats under four years old, and no ginger,  marmalade or all black ones.   I decided we needed to move house so we could accomodate a few dozen cats from Moggy mansion and the separate isolation units.. 


There were so many to fall for and want to take home. 


But the first one we both fell for was Pippa - no photo sorry - who would have had to be an outdoor cat and the proximity of a main road to our house meant the Centre would not let us have outdoor cats.  Pippa would also have had to be on her own and we really wanted more than one.  She also was not suited to being with a dog and Jo would like to get a dog at some stage.


So, we went to the Centre for two related outdoor kittens, or at least cats under four years old, and no ginger or marmalade ones. 

But the next ones I fell in love with were Annabel and Mac.


And we have ended up reserving two older indoor cats (Miss Annabel is six and Mr Mac is ten) who are not related, though they have lived together (indoors), all their lives and of which one is marmalade.  That's life!  We have reserved them and subject to us receiving a satisfactory home check they will be with us at the end of next week.   So here, at last, we are able to introduce the two folk who will hopefully grace our home for some years to come.  Fingers crossed it all goes well please.

    Excellent, I never knew there were indoor cats and outdoor cats. I thought they pleased themselves.

    In light of what happened at my house this week, I am, seriously, all smiles. Such beautiful cats! I can't go into details, but I am really doing OK. Blessings on you and Annabel and Mac.

    The home check will certainly be no problem, and I am already looking forward to see a lot more of Annabel and Mac!
    I've thought about opening my home to one or two cats again lately, too... but I think it would be unfair to the cat(s) what with me being out for work (and play) for so much of the time.

    Oooooooooooh!!!! I'm so pleased. Annabel is very pretty and Mac looks exactly like Roland and William did in the cattery - grumpy and tired. They'll both love having a proper home and family again.

    Can't wait to meet them :-)

    What is the difference between a ginger and a marmalade cat please?

      Apparently ginger cats and marmalade cats appear the same on Google images - I always thought ginger ones were lighter than marmalade. Interestingly the dictionary describes a marmalade cat as a cat whose fur is dark orange with small strips of yellow or brown. But the term ginger cat is not in the dictionary!

      Aaah - I've always just called them all ginger, regardless of their shade, but then I've only ever really known three and they were all the paler kind.

    I'm not really a pet person (for one thing, I'm allergci), but if I do imagine myself looking for a cat, I can see it would be very hard to resist that look of Annabel's... And then of course, Mac too! Fingers crossed it will work out well for all of you! ♥

      I'm so happy you found your feline friends and resuced them from a shelter. (Fingers crossed that all goes well!) Annabel' s a beauty and Mac' s expression made me laugh...such a "cat" look!

    These two moggies look like they will be nice additions to your family. We have had various cats through the years.... the most recent one, Dixie, lived to be almost 20. But no more cats (or dogs, hamsters, budgies, fish etc etc) for me. I like the freedom of not having to be home to look after them, and my DIL is very allergic to cats so if I had one here, she would never come to see me, and that would make me very sad.

    Oh, wonderful!! They look like great pals. I picture Mac with his tam over one eye, just wanting to get down the pub for a pint, while Annabel picks out quilting squares and drinks tea. They're lovely! Looking forward to loads more pics once they're home with you.

    Good luck with the home check, though I'm sure you will come through with flying colours. I would love to have a cat or two but so many in my family have car allergies that it just doesn't make sense. Congratulations on the adoption!

    They look very sweet. I'm so glad for you - I know how you've missed having a kitty, and now you'll have two. Sometimes two animals are easier than a single one. We had a dog, a Brittany spaniel who was a terror until we got a second dog to keep him company. After that, no more problems. Amazing. Good luck with the kitties - we'll look forward to hearing more in the weeks to come. xoxox Carol

    You are an animal portrait artist already. I love their names. Annabel suits such a dignified grand lady and Mac - I think he's sizing you up for the top job already. I hope they have a long, happy life with you because of course you will be approved.

    Oh my goodness! I think I have also fallen in love with these cats. Those faces! They show so much personality! Annabel looks like a bit of mischief maker and Mac looks like a wise old soul. You will have to let me know if I have guessed correctly.

    They're so cute! I'm sure you'll be approved and spend many wonderful hours snuggling those two. Annabelle is very pretty, but there's just something about Mac's face that appeals to me. I wonder if Reggie would like a kitty?

    I am sooooo HAPPY for you and Jo...two new kitty cats joining your family...that's awesome. They're both very cute too....how are you going to be able to spoil them both at the same time????
    I love the fact that the rescue centres do a home check before allowing the animals to be adopted fully....don't worry you'll pass with flying colours.
