I knew about such cafés existing in Japan, but now we have one in Europe - I wonder how soon it'll catch on in other countries! In Germany, I'm afraid health & safety regulations would be against allowing cats on tables etc. where people prepare and serve food and drinks.
Wow, is all I can say. You'd better treat Ms.Ivy well, if not instead of running away to join the circus, she'll travel to Hungary to join the Cat Cafe Crew.
This is great!! I know because I have a cat cafe in my own home! There are three of them who think it is their job to check everyone out and get free laps on which to sleep! Edvard (after Edvard Munch, the artist) and Percy/"Purr-cy (after Percy Bysshe Shelley), who are brothers and Little Cat (guess where her name comes from?) are our delightful companions.
All three are spoiled, two are geriatric, but are all thoroughly adorable! They are our healing and joy, along with Sheila, our Australian Cattle Dog/German Shepherd Mix, and a painted Conure (small parrot) called Charlie. (Yes, the cats go into sequestration when Charlie is flying about!)
Well, being a New Yorker, my first reaction is "how cool!"... and then comes "what if someone tries to steal one of the cats", "what if someone holds the door open too long and lets one out on the street", "what if some bad person comes and feeds something bad to one of the cats when no one is looking", and etc. I think it's a really great idea if society was only made up of nice people, but my reality check brain sort of fears for those kitties.
I'm sure this would never be allowed in the States...too many health regulations I'm sure. But petting animals does lower blood pressure...then the coffee would bring it back up! I had a moment of laughter thinking about my cat, Squeak, aka...The spawn of Satan...in a place like that. There would have to be a bandaid bar in addition to the java!
Okay. So this is my most favorite CAT place! I grew up with cats and dogs, and ended up being a doggie person. That being said, YES! I would totally go to this café!!! I love the camaraderie of the willing kitties, and would absolutely be open to having one or more of the kitties on my lap! How cute is this???
How wonderful!! Thank you for sharing this! I really would like to visit this cafe! By the way, please check my today's blog post of bird bath. - And thank you again! :)
If there was a cat café here I certainly would go to it. I am a cat person and love them all. We have Cody, a golden cat we obtained from the pound, and Mitsuko, a grey Korat, who is 6 months old and jumps on everything. As Albert Schweitzer said “There are two means of refuge from the miseries of life: music and cats.”
One of the nicest hotels I ever stayed at had kittens running around at breakfast. But, you may call me an anally retentive hygiene freak if you like, but I do not like the idea of someone else's cat leaping over my food table. (My own cat would be a different matter of course) I feel the same about other peoples' kids, actually :D

I was starting to worry about my sanity. Having watched this I know I have little to concern myself over.

ReplyDeleteIan said I was not, definitely not, to let Helen see this!

ReplyDeleteJust found out there is also a catcafe in Vienna! Only 1200 km from my house! ;)
ReplyDeleteExcellent! Thanks for the post. Dante, Rose, Lilly and Zeus thank you as well.

ReplyDeleteI certainly agree about other people's children, Jenny!!
DeleteNo need to reply to my email until you feel better. The tree will still be there --unlike Ivy. I hope she didn't still have her collar on.
