Front gardens are the theme of the shoot-out this week.
In the days when we had two cars and all the trees were small.
This cherry tree now reaches the gutter despiote being cut back a few times.
I like our old gate.
Not a day for sitting out in the front garden!
If you would like to see more front gardens / yards please go to the Friday My Town Shoot-out page.
Glad to see you back Scriptor. Your front gate is very much like my grandmother's 'way back in the 40's. We used to swing on it and it had the name Craig y Don carved on it. It was a big old house with a small orchard of apple and plum trees, a few chickens and ducks, red currants and black currants and a patch where they grew celery and rhubarb. All gone now. That was Bushey, Hertfordshire. Hope Ivy has turned up! Keep well. We need intelligent and informative blogs.
ReplyDeleteLove that last photo SS. I am watching a British TV series "Midsomer Murders." I just love the cottages and British estates. You have one just like them. I love gates. We don't have one but I have always wanted one just for the effect.
ReplyDeleteI like the picture with the gate :) Gives a rural feeling.
ReplyDeleteThat last photo made me feel a bit chilly.
ReplyDeleteoh, no, Ivy is missing? I hope she returns! your yard with the gate open is so inviting. I am drawn to gates, doors and windows. I think it's my needing to be invited to come in.
ReplyDeletewishing a restful and peaceful weekend
What - Ivy is missing???
ReplyDeleteI love this series of photos. The last one is beautiful, refreshing and nostalgic.
ReplyDeleteI also like old fences and the last photo made me think about having a lot of fun this summer. ^)^

Love the yard and garden photos.
ReplyDeleteThe gate looks perfect to swing on......can you tell I'm still a child at heart?
I never realised how fast cherry trees grew till I planted one from a pip. It is now quite towering. the one opposite has grown up to the top of a 5 storey block, and that's after pruning!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you for your super postcard of Liverpool. It was a lovely surprise!
I went and bought some car stamps but they only had 9 left in the whole post office!
nice. the snow shot is my favorite. the gate a close second. a thunderstorm is moving through, need to get off the computer. have a great week.
ReplyDeleteLove your garden! It's just like I would imagine an English garden to be! The gate is really charming too. I enjoyed the previous post, but didn't get to comment. I'm so sad that Ivy has taken off..hope she's home very soon and back enjoying your lovely garden!
ReplyDeleteA permanently open gate - a permanent welcome! That shot of the open gate and path leading to the door, just bring a smile to my face. It's a happy image!
ReplyDeleteAll that snowy picture needs is something red in it then you could use it for this year's Christmas card! Lovely pics.
ReplyDeleteI just love that last photo best, simply because we have none of the snow being in a tropical country. Plus no front yard of my own, being in a highrise building.
ReplyDeleteWe are having major issues with our gardens. My dad planted all these fruit trees and the garden will take long to gain structure. So looking at these neat photos encourages me! :D
ReplyDeleteI didn't know Ivy went missing. As I write this, I hope she has returned.
