ReplyDeleteThe first quote is especially apropos in this season of "Occupy Wall Street" protests. I thought people running banks and financial institutions were supposed to be intelligent, but they just don't get it. However, the "OWS" protesters did accomplish one thing -- they got one of our biggest banks, Bank of America, to back down on an additional $5/month fee they were going to levy against every one of their millions of depositors. After all the backlash when so many depositors closed their accounts and opened new ones at other banks, BofA backed down, as did Chase and Wells Fargo, who had planned to follow suit. So sometimes the little guy does win, in little ways anyway.
