One of the sillier interchanges of two brothers (the younger one being elderly and the older one being middle aged - it‘s all a matter of perspective!). The temperature dropped from 20 degrees yesterday to 10 degrees today so the conversation began with the understatement -
“Not quite so warm today!”
“No, about half the warmth. Can you have half the warmth?”
It's comments like this that are used as substitutes for saying the real things that matter - like 'How are you feeling - physically and mentally' - because one knows they'll just get the standard answer 'Fine'. Even when things are far from 'Fine'.
