Exeter City FC

A victory parade was held on Saturday 9th May for Exeter City Football Club after the local heroes gained promotion.

The Lord Mayor hosted a reception for the players and staff of the club, nicknamed "The Grecians", after they clinched their second successive promotion. They won the previous Saturday at Rotherham to earn a place in League One*.

The players and management took an open-top bus through the city centre to the Guildhall.

Far left - the goalie, Andy Marriott;
far right - the Manager, Paul Tisdale.

As you may have gathered, City's home kit consists of red and white shirts, black shorts, and black socks.

* League One is the third tier of English football coming below the Premier League and the Championship. (In the phraseology of the 'good old days' of the 1960s this is the equivalent of the Third Division but the names were changed to raise the profile of the lower divisions and attract sponsorship).

  1. Wow, a big parad and celebration, eh?
    Bytheway, I'm well under way with my oil painting of the butterfly White Tree Nymph - but I'll alert you when I post it (which could be a while, because Joan from South Africa Photographs (SAPH) may want it for her on-line magazine that's she is setting up).
