Formula One preview
I’ve just watched an F1 preview programme – the new Honda looks very pretty! I’m looking forward to the new season starting even though I know it will probably end up being a disappointment with little overtaking – except via the pit stops.
The Force India car (formerly Spyker) looked OK as well though it seems to have enormous air intakes. One thing that may make the cornering and starting from the grid a bit more exciting is that the traction control will be banned this season.
Perhaps the most exciting prospect is the first ever night race on the streets of Singapore – a circuit which looks fabulous on the computer graphics. If it is half as good in real life it will be a race worth watching.
During the programme there was a session with Massa and Raikkonen being ‘interviewed’ by Tamara Ecclestone... “Yeah, yeah, yeah,... that’s amazing... yeah, yeah...” What makes me think she got the job through her connections rather than her elocution and diction???
There was also a bit of ice racing – not surprisingly Michael Schumacher beat Raikkonen and Massa and the rest. Not sure who these two love birds were!
These are the declared drivers for this year:-
Ferrari: Kimi Raikkonnen & Felipe Massa
McLaren: Lewis Hamilton & Heiki Kovalainen
BMW: Nick Heidfield & Robert Kubica
Renault: Fernando Alosno & Nelson Piquet Jnr.
Williams: Nico Rosberg & Kazuki Nakajima
Red Bull: David Coulthard & Mark Webber
Toro Rosso: Sebastian Vettel & Sebastien Bourdais
Toyota: Jarno Trulli & Timo Glock
Honda: Jenson Button & Rubens Barrichello
Super Aguri: Takuma Sato & Anthony Davidson
Force India: Adrian Sutil & Gioancarlo Fisichella
