To my surprise the most popular female cat’s name in the US is Samantha – which is the name Richard chose for one of our cats when we got it in 1995. Richard was only 7 at the time. (This is, of course, not an attempt to comment on the mental age of American cat owners!) Richard named Samantha’s sister Susie and I named our third cat Meek because he spent the first two days hiding under the cooker.

Spirit of Christmas

It must be the spirit of Christmas. After years of trying to pretend each other does not exist Meek and Samantha have actually got around to curling up together in the last week or so!
