AUDREY HEPBURN - 1929-1993

Audrey Hepburn has always been one of my favourite film stars. I think that her beauty is unsurpassed. But some people are unaware of how beautiful her personality was.

“In a cruel and imperfect world, she was living proof that God could still create perfection." - Rex Reed

"What is really needed in order to become a star is an extra element which god gives you or doesn't give you. You're born with it. You cannot learn it. God kissed on her cheek and there she was" - Billy Wilder

"Audrey was a lady with an elegance and charm that was unsurpassed, except by her love for underprivileged children all over the world. God has a most beautiful new angel now that will know just what to do in heaven" - Elizabeth Taylor

For the last five years of her life she was a Special Ambassador for UNICEF, appointed on March 8, 1988 she could easily have remained a figurehead as some celebrities do. But that was not her style. She endured hardship, physical danger and medical risks in countries ravaged by wars and disease. And good works are still done in her name through the Audrey Hepburn Children’s Fund.

"I have been given the privilege of speaking for children who cannot speak for themselves, and my task is an easy one, because children have no political enemies. To save a child is a blessing: to save a million is a God-given opportunity." -Audrey Hepburn

"For Attractive lips, speak words of kindness, For lovely eyes, seek out the good in people, For a slim figure, share your food with the hungry, For Beautiful hair, let a child run their fingers through it once a day, For poise, walk with the knowledge that you never walk alone. People, more than things, have to be restored, renewed, revived, reclaimed, and redeemed. Remember, if you ever need a helping hand, you will find one at the end of each of your arms. As you grow older, you will discover that you have two hands, one for helping yourself and the other for helping others." -Audrey Hepburn

“We are born with the ability to love, yet we have to develop it like you would any other muscle.” -Audrey Hepburn

“People, even more than things, have to be restored, renewed, revived, reclaimed, and redeemed; never throw out anyone.” -Audrey Hepburn

A visit to the psychic

Jennifer visited a psychic of some local repute.

In a dark and hazy room, peering into a crystal ball, the mystic delivered grave news:

"There’s no easy way to say this, so I’ll just be blunt - prepare yourself to be a widow. Your husband will die a violent and horrible death this year."

Visibly shaken, Jennifer stared at the woman’s lined face, then at the single flickering candle, then down at her hands. She took a few deep breaths to compose herself.

She simply had to know. She met the fortune teller’s gaze, steadied her voice, and asked:

"Will I be acquitted?"

Happy Monday - A Virus

Another idea from ‘The Little Book of Complete Bollocks’ by Alistair Beaton:-

Your computer’s crashed? Your hard disk may be suffering from a cosmic imbalance or ‘virus’. Restore your computer to health by taking the following steps:
1 Place a healing crystal on top of your VDU;
2 Clear your PC’s negative energy by lighting a joss stick;
3 Reinvigorate your mouse by massaging it with essential oils;
4 Energise your CD Rom drive by intoning ancient Hindu mantras;
5 Buy a new computer.
