These are all amazing, and kinds I've never seen before. Come to think about it, black and orange are quite "popular" colours among butterflies though, aren't they?
ReplyDeleteGorgeous!
ReplyDeleteWow what a collection!!! It sounds oxymoronic to use the phrase tour de force for butterflies but I think it applies to your shoot.
ReplyDeleteI hate it when my comments follow B&B he is always so clever and I am just - well - normal.
ReplyDeleteI say 'ditto'
what is with the one with the clear wings. was he dead? I've never seen this before.
wow! A great collection of beautiful butterfly!
ReplyDeleteWhat an awesome collection of shots. You must be very patient. I am intrigued by the one that looks to have clear wings.
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful, SS!!!
ReplyDeleteWow, SS, they are beautiful. Some of those I have never seen before. #4 was especially interesting.

ReplyDeleteBlack & Orange
awesome series SS! your images always amaze me week after week. the butterfly with the clear wings is one I have never seen before. tell us more about that one.
ReplyDeleteyou can delete this one if you like. I didn't see an email address for you, would you like to be our guest interview for In The Limelight in November? let me know soon so I can send the interview to you if you choose to accept. thanks!
ReplyDeleteI like the 4th one with the transparent wings.
ReplyDeleteYou don't have the Monarch butterfly?
Firstly, yes, Ann, I do have a Monarch but tought enough was enough! I tend to get carried away and put too many photos on.
ReplyDeleteThe Clearwing Butterfly (Oleria rubescens) is a beautiful creature. Their wings lack the usual dense covering of scales that give other butterflies their distinct coloration. This transparency renders these clearwing butterflies elusive as they appear and disappear in the dense forest undergrowth. It is not found in the UK - execpt in butterfly houses wich is where I photographed this one.
We do,however, have some moths with clear wings such as the Braod-bordered Bee Hawk Moth .
