The Fisherman's Cot, Bickleigh, Devon

This is where Partner-who-loves-tea and I stayed a couple of weeks ago.  It hardly needs any words.

Our room - the one with the light on and the open door.

Our patio

The view at breakfast

The dining room and bar from outside by the River Exe.

The view from the outside tables.

Some of the bird life - a Dipper

and a Grey Heron.

The room was spacious, comfortable, and warm enough to make toast in, the food was good and the service very pleasant.  What more could one ask for?

  1. Looks like a good place for a weekend or holiday. Am I right in thinking that you were actually sitting OUTSIDE?! In January?!!

    1. Yes, outside, in january! It was quite sheltered and even though it was icy next morning it was warm enough to wander around outside.

  2. Glad it was such a lovely place. Makes me want to stay there, but being only a few miles from home we have no excuse.

10 years ago you'd have hated it being that warm!

    1. It was warmer than I would have liked but I could have turned the heating down if She-who-must-be-obeyed would have refrained from beating me up! Seriously, even Jo turned it down at one stage.

  6. What a beautiful place! When I think of the English countryside I picture it looking just like that! Now when I hear that song I'll always think of that bridge too!

  8. It looks a lovely spot and just right for a little meditative rest, I was very interested in your Simon and Garfunkel reference.

  9. And how amazing being right close to the river like that! glad you had such a good break, and I daresay one or two of your readers will be along there in time, after your glowing recommendation!

  10. Being a big S&G fan myself (and Bridge over troubled water perhaps my very favourite favourite), I enjoyed that "non-story" ... :)
