I love Christmas cake, especially with a
bit of cheese on the side. But in 1992 a survey asked people what they thought
was the most appropriate use of fruitcake.
Thirty-eight per cent thought it made a useful gift for someone else;
13% said it made a good doorstop; and 4% suggested landfill.

Heehee. I love it too. And if I do say so myself, I make a pretty good one. Don't know how it would do with cheese though! However, they have contests over here with guys who build trebuchets and fire off the cakes to see whose cake goes the farthest. The biggest contest is in Texas. (Where else??) :) xoxox Canadian Chickadee
ReplyDeleteFruitcake/Christmas cake can be so delicious if made correctly. It's one of those things, though, that if you don't like it, you don't like it. Like banana pudding. Grandma hates banana pudding no matter how fancy and how much real cream is in the pudding.
ReplyDeleteNot a fruitcake fan here, but in America they tend to be dry and overly sweet and a bit stale. Maybe I just need one soaked in brandy or something.
ReplyDeleteAMEN!!
DeleteWell, you can't please everyone! :-)
ReplyDeleteOh well as someone who makes and gives away 6 Christmas cakes each year I have obviously joined the majority.
