Award for Photographic Excellence

Each Sunday I give an award to one of my favourite blogging photographers. The recipient is welcome to display the award on their blog but is equally welcome not to do so. There is no passing on or writing deep secrets necessary. It is simply an acknowledgement from me of how much I have appreciated the person’s photographs.

And today's Photographic Excellence Award goes to Dan Felstead. Dan takes some remarkable photos and he also dioes a lot of playing with photos to produce unusual effects or enhance certain features. His Wood and Pixels blog is wonderful and you can also catch his photos on the site Soaring through the world in pictures by going to the sidebar list of members and clicking on his name. Thank you Dan for some wonderful shots.

(And those who enjoyed Lynda's photo's last week might like to see her comment on last Sunday's posting. I do like a sense of humour!)

Award For Photographic Excellence

Each Sunday I give an award to one of my favourite blogging photographers. When I first started blogging and looking at Blogs it was the excellence of people’s photos that attracted me. Nowadays I am equally interested in the writing but every now and then a particular photo reminds me how many brilliantly talented amateurs there are out there. I have decided to give the award to one person every Sunday until I run out of folk to give it to. The award is in no particular order so please don't feel left out if others precede you!

The recipient is welcome to display the award on their blog but is equally welcome not to do so. There is no passing on or writing deep secrets necessary. It is simply an acknowledgement from me of how much I have appreciated the person’s photographs.

And today's Photographic Excellence Award goes to my esteeemed brother GB. I have had the advantage over most people of seeing his photos since the 1960s! Now you can see them on his British blog and his New Zealand one. But some of his best appear on the multi-photographer blog "Soaring through the World in Pictures".

This Sunday's Photography Award

Each Sunday I give an award to one of my favourite blogging photographers. (The award is in no particular order so please don't feel left out if others precede you!)

The recipient is welcome to display the award on their blog but is equally welcome not to do so. There is no passing on or writing deep secrets necessary. It is simply an acknowledgement from me of how much I have appreciated the person’s photographs. This week I am awarding it to Pixel Queen (Sandi from California).

A recent wedding at which she took photos included this brilliant shot of rings.

After weddings come babies so take a peek at these toes!

And then as they grow up you get beautiful subjects and shots like this one of Sandi’s daughter.

Another Award - this time it's local!

This week I am awarding it to Julie - the Compulsive Worrier.

Julie, a local librarian, has branched out in recent times to taking wedding photos and I have been very impressed with the ones that she has blogged.
As examples take a look at this black and white one (click to enlarge it); this New York shot or this portrait of one of her daughters.

If you visit her website you will see plenty of examples why I’d be more than happy to book her for a wedding!

This week’s winner is Helen – my daughter. It might seem that an element of nepotism is involved in choosing this week’s Award winner but Helen is not called Daughter-who-takes-photos without good reason!

The header on her dragonfly blog is an outstanding photo that could easily win awards from greater judges than I.

More dragonflies, like this Migrant Hawker and a Broad-bodied Chaser, can be found on Helen’s Wildlife blog. But it is a Lesser Stag Beetle that I have chosen as my favourite photo of hers from her blog. Hopefully one day she will have time to upload some more of the many brilliant photos which I have had the privilege to see.
