We have a new Egghead

My favourite quiz team, the Eggheads (Barry, Chris, Daphne, CJ, Kevin and Judith) have been joined by another one.

Pat has won the quiz show 'Are you an Egghead'  against 31 other contestants. A former winner of Mastermind and ‘Who wants to be a millionaire’, Pat Gibson will be a great addition to the team and CJ describes himself as being ‘in awe’ of Pat and Kevin.

Eggheads

The Eggheads were beaten again on Monday. The challengers won £8,000 which should help towards paying off some student debt. How sad is that, that people of their age have to use money they’ve won to pay off debts. My debts are only slightly short of the National Debt but that’s the result of a lifetime of debauchery. I think it’s so unfair that students have to pay their own fees and instead of a grant only get a loan to se them through university. In the light of how much this made Richard debate whether to go to university I don’t know how a Labour government can defend the system.

In the meantime, last night the Eggheads were joined by a new Egghead - Barry, the winner of the programme "Are you an Egghead?"

On last night's programme he replaced CJ but whether this is permanent or whether it simply means the Eggheads will rotate I'm not sure.

Daphne remains my favourite with Kevin a close sceond.

Sean and the Sheep

As regular readers of this Blog will know I am a keen fan of the quiz show Eggheads (BBC2 6pm). Last night, with the prize at a healthy £20,000, the Eggheads were beaten by Sean and the Sheep.

Well done, Sean, Lucy, and friends.

Eggheads

A team called Weakly Players beat the Eggheads last night and won £27,000. Generally speaking, teams of older members tend to do better than youngsters, confirming my ‘ageist’ view that the amount of general knowledge picked up simply by being around for a fair length of time helps considerably in this programme. Just so long as you are not around so many years that you begin to forget it all again...

Eggheads

Eggheads is a BBC Two quiz game show and one of the few programmes I watch regularly (BBC2 6pm). The Eggheads are a team, made up of five British quiz champions who compete against a new panel of challengers each episode. On the 28 September 2007 broadcast, the Eggheads lost after a 74 game winning streak, and the challenging team (Beer Today, Gone Tomorrow, a group of young students from Oxford Brookes University) won £75,000 — the highest prize won on the show so far. They won despite only two of them being in the final round versus four Eggheads (minus Chris). The quiz champions who compete on the show are:

Kevin Ashman: winner of British Quiz Championship, European Quiz Championship, World Quizzing Championships, Fifteen to One, Mastermind, Brain of Britain and Mind Sports Olympiad.

CJ De Mooi: winner of BrainTeaser, 100% and The Weakest Link as well as having been Mensa chess champion.

Daphne Fowler: winner of Fifteen to One, Brain of Britain and Going for Gold.

Chris Hughes: winner of Mastermind, International Mastermind and Brain of Britain.

Judith Keppel: first British winner of one million pounds on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?

The presenter is Dermot Murnaghan.

Bhutan

One of the few television programs that I watch on a regular basis is ‘Eggheads’ – a quiz show on BBC2 at 6pm each week-day evening. Some of the questions are easy (or is it the answers that are easy?) but many are not – to me at any rate. So, as long as one can recall them afterwards, the process is quite educational. I learned yesterday that Bhutan only allowed television into the country in 1999 and that it is a no smoking country – the only one in the world. Not going there then!
Mind you, those who want to kick the habit could find it a better solution than this one from Ubergizmo - the site which gave us the alarm grenade -
