A lot of Rambles

On 15th August 2007 – just eight years ago today – I scrapped some of my previous blogs and created ‘Rambles from my Chair’.  I decided people might be fed up of seeing insects, insects and more insects with the occasional flower thrown in for good measure. So I widened the scope of my blog and the last 2762 posts have been on every subject under the sun (and a few that aren’t under the sun!)   ‘Rambles’ has reached a total of 200 followers though I am sure many of those are now inactive.  It has been great fun writing the posts but even more fun has been making friends around the world, receiving comments and, in turn, following other people's blogs.
I thoroughly enjoy interacting with you all and look forward to the next eight years or so.

  1. I have found insects to be a bit of a wet beetle. I will carry on as they are fascinating and difficult to photograph......I am also selfish.

    1. I think you have proved that photographed well (sorry, mine were photographed well - yours are done brilliantly) insects attract a big audience. But I am glad to see the odd wee doggie in there!

  2. Congratulations on this milestone - and for staying true to your vision and desire for rambling. I think too many bloggers are chasing 'audiences' and worried about their stats rather than focusing on what they want to write. So I enjoy your random rambles, always gentle and amusing, a breath of fresh air, even if I don't often comment.

  5. Happy Blogoversary, John! I am glad to have come across your blog a few years back (actually, I can't remember how and when). I look at post boxes differently now!

  8. Being one of the friends around the world, I'm very glad our blogging paths crossed back in 2009 - and along the way, some of your other friends have also become mine! :) You really do have a special knack when it comes to blogging about a wide range of topics and yet add a personal touch. Keep up the good work! :)

  11. I'm always cheered up by reading your blog. I really enjoy the pix, especially as it's unlikely I'll ever see these places in person. Still, one never knows. If I ever make it across the pond, I'll give you fair warning - maybe we can have an English tea together.

  13. Belated congratulations! Also I am happy reading your blog, seeing your interesting, funny, touching pictures! By the way, I must have missed your pre-rambles-era: I love insects :-)

You mention 200 followers, however, apart from these there must be tons of non-following followers! E.g. I am not following officially, because I get lost in the internet forests if I do follow every blog I like (that is, I think I will do, the internet takes too much time now already) but be sure you can count me as nr. 201, an active non-officially-following follower who pops in every now and then to fully enjoys your great posts!

  14. Eight years! It was possibly around that time that I stopped by to see what all the rambling was about after you had commented on one of my daughter's blogs. I miss blogging and love to pop in for surprise visits to my friends around the world. Hugs to you and yours -- C
