Ah yes. Our Mother's Day falls late in May but the cartoon is all too true. My mum was a housewife and dad was absolutely hopeless in the kitchen. Mother's Day back in my childhood was the one day a year that dad insisted on making breakfast (possibly on her birthday too, if it fell on a weekend). He usually ended up burning the toast black (this was back in the day before automatic toasters throwing the slices half way across the kitchen when they're done), and mum did not really like breakfast in bed anyway (crumbs!). She eventually one year told us that she prefererred to get up and eat her breakfast in the kitchen as usual.
Can soooo relate to that. I've just baked 3 cakes for a fundraising event for my sons' school and will spend 1-2 hours (wo)manning the stall and buying back any unsold cakes... a lovely way to spend Mother's Day.
Happy day to all the "Mums" in the UK...looks like everyone all over the globe has the same job description when it comes to being a mother! It's a job I wouldn't trade for the world. Well, there might have been a few days I would have traded! Ha!
Very cute! Just posted a wish for a happy day on my facebook to include all the family, which includes Jo too of course! Sending love and hugs to you both, xoxox

ReplyDeleteYes! That's it!
ReplyDeleteTechnically, you still have to work! HA! So funny and true!
ReplyDeleteHappy Mothering Sunday to Jo! Hope you do all the work today, John! :-)
And as a child I'd always ask, "But when is Children's Day?" and they always said,"Every day is Children's Day."
ReplyDeleteOh, yes, how I agree with this! I remember being ever tired, with never enough sleep. Yet, being a mother was always my top desire.

ReplyDeleteHaha! That is so true! Being a mother is still a pretty rewarding job though.
