Slava Groshev

I like pictures of people reading, be they paintings, sketches or photographs.  This one is a painting by Slava Groshev.

41-year-old Russian Slava Groshev uses photographs to help create stunningly beautiful paintings of young women. Crisp, vibrant and sharp, Slava's figurative work is so realistic-looking that you could easily be fooled into thinking that he uses digital photography in its creation, but this is not the case. All his paintings are, in fact, created with the old-fashioned paint brush and not digital computer software.

  6. Stunning is the right word here, John! They really look like photos. I love the first one, it conveys so well how we feel when absorbed in a good read. Plus I have always loved tartans and checks, and so the woman's dress is something that could be found in my wardrobe, too.

  7. I am totally lost in admiration for anyone with the level of skill and imagination needed to give paintings that technical ability and that much soul as well.

  8. His paintings are so realistic.....absolutely stunning.
I had to reread your words to make sure that you said they were actually paintings....using the good old paint and paintbrush method.

  11. Wonderful paintings. I'm still not sure if the last one is a painting or the painter. If it's a painting, I LOVE it! Have a wonderful Christmas with all your family. Hope the weather improves. I hear it has been terrible. No more like that to come I hope!
