So this was Christmas (at The Willows)

Daughter-who-loves-food and Son-in-law-who-cooks came a couple of days before Christmas.

Sadly, despite Daughter-who-loves-food waiting all day for a squirrel to come on the bird table, it didn’t come until Christmas Day.

Chef serving Christmas Dinner.

Sous-chef doing her bit.

I did my bit by eating it…

Yes, that is Santa on my tie.

It’s present opening time.

Only a chef could get so excited about a pair of kitchen scissors.

Son-who-loves-films knows the way to his mother’s heart is through cheese and wine.

Beautiful artificial flowers from Daughter-who-takes-photos and Son-in-law-and-friend-who-loves-otters.   They will bring a hint of spring to the next few months.

The day after Boxing Day Brother-in-law-and-sister-in-law-who- cruise-the-world came for lunch.

  1. Thanks for sharing your Christmas with us. And I have to say, that first portrait is really beautiful. Something about the pose makes me see her as belonging in a Jane Austen novel (film)! :)

  4. It looks as if you had a very nice holiday. Love your Santa tie -- Robin has a red holiday tie with little black and white Snoopy (is the plural of Snoopy 'snoopies'? I don't know!) on it.

The photo of your dinner is fabulous. Makes me hungry, just looking at it! :)

Take care and God bless, xoxox Carol

    1. Nope. But he did manage to download some of the photos.

    2. Yeah I was unfortunately beaten by that phone. No idea what the problem is but with the software loaded on the laptop and the phone trying to sync it still wouldn't connect the two together. In the end I just mounted the phone like a USB flash drive which allowed us to get at the photos just like you would on a camera. The only downside being that it is really, really slow to access the files, and regularly seems to time out necessitating you starting over.

Ah well, I suppose partial progress is better than no progress at all.

    3. I had a similar problem syncing contacts from my HTC Desire S which is why I eventually abandoned Windows and Google and Android and converted to Apple. I've now had three years of seamless syncing.

  6. Looks like you guys had a lot of fun. I like the tree and the part of your house where it's placed!

  7. I just wanted to add: what a great photo of you, and of Jo. I know she is a bit camera shy (I am too, so I totally understand) but do tell her I think she looks lovely, and I hope we get to meet one day. In the meantime, a very Happy New Year to all of you, xoxox

  9. Yumm!! I would have done my bit about the Christmas meal same as you, John! But of course I would have also helped clearing up afterwards. I don't mind kitchen work at all, in fact, I quite enjoy doing things like washing up, stacking the dishwasher and wiping down worktops etc.

This post was almost like being there with you and your family.
When I first saw the first picture, I thought it's a painting - your daughter is so beautiful, and that picture really shows how much.

  10. Lovely photos of the family enjoying themselves...what great fun you must of all had together laughing, talking and eating.....the stories from the cruisers, the tall tales, the jokes....oh to be a fly on the wall.
CJ, I must say that you look absolutely "SATISFIED" after enjoying that Christmas meal.
The phone to laptop syncing photos were priceless!!
I love those artificial orchids a whole lot...they look so real.

  11. Great photos! I must ask... did you cut your hair, or is it pulled back in a queue?

    1. Don't worry - it's still there. It's pulled back but I've lost so much hair on recent years I wouldn't call it a queue - more a sort of string....

  13. Whoops! Something happened and I lost your whole page, so you may get two comments from me. I was saying how beautiful your daughter is and what a perfect shot it was. Our family just left to aim back for Boise after a week of absolutely gorgeous weather here. I don't remember how long it is since we have had so many days of warm sunshine. People spent Christmas on the beach. Really so unusual. It looks like your family all had a great time. We are going to have a little less excitement and even Scruffy will enjoy some peace. Our kids are cat lovers, so he had lots of socializing.
