A Weekend Wander

A Cobra
You never know what is going to draw up next to you in a petrol station...

and then leave with a dull throaty roar...

Linghams
Heading for coffee in Linghams, our local, award-winning independent bookshop.

There are few sweeter sounds than hearing a parent or grand-parent reading to a child.

Farm Shop
We investigated a farm shop in Barnston for the first time.  Apart from all the vegetables and meat they had the most wonderful coconut and almond meringues!

T-shirt
I got a new t-shirt from a charity shop...
.... so beware!!!

  1. Coconut and almond meringues - now, that sounds like my kind of thing!

  2. You must report on the response (or not) that you get on that T-shirt. Seeing you got it from a charity shop, my mind started racing to think of stories how it ended up there...
    The book shop/cafe looks nice!

  3. First let me say that I like the new blog format and the new "About Me" introduction.
Love your new shirt but please don't be grumpy for long periods of time, if not you'll stay that way, and we certainly can't have John the Grump in our lives forever can we now?
Grandparents/parents reading to children must be one of the best pleasures in life.
    That car is fantabulous....nice photos.

  4. A great car, I'm glad I don't have to pay for the fuel.

  7. Hello Grumpy! You can be anything you want on your blog, but I'm betting you're not really that grumpy! You always find the most interesting places that make me wish I could visit them and enjoy all the cuteness! Have a good week!

  8. You do never know what you will find, do you? Yes, you are allowed to be grumpy, but somehow i think you aren't actually as grumpy as you want people to think you are!

  9. To paraphrase "Jerry McGuire," you had me at almond meringues ... xoxo

  10. Yes, there is a story in that Tshirt! The bookshops are disappearing here in the states. I am also to blame. I would go into a bookstore, peruse the new books, then go home and order off Amazon. :(

  11. Your gas looks like the same price as ours but I can't remember the difference between pounds and dollars. Looks like a fun outing!

  12. Ever since my family's favorite locally owned book shop closed, I've either bought of a used-book store or Amazon online. I miss the coziness of the book shop which had chairs to sit and enjoy the ambiance.
I bought gas (petrol) for $3.59 a gallon this morning. How does that compare with your cost?
I'd love to buzz along in that Cobra! Only I prefer it in red.
hope your week is full of good cheer!

    1. Petrol is about £6.25 a gallon at the moment! (Sadly we lost gallons as a measure when we entered the European Union - we now use litres so I had some converting to do.)
Ironically, that is the last ever photo of our bookshop's cafe like that. The piano and easy chairs have gone, so have the wooden chairs and tables, the walls are all white and the rest is plastic. It is now part of a franchise. I don't like the change - which happened this week - though it was certainly busier and it may save the bookshop. We'll see.
