Probably so for most people. I know for certain that I have memories from when I was four. Possibly earlier. When I was five we moved (from a flat in town to a house in a nearby village) so that's one thing by which I can date some memories.
I've read some very interesting stuff about infantile amnesia. It is odd, isn't it, that we can not actively remember what occured to us in the years that psychologists think of as the most important ones.
One of my first memories was after I'd seen the Disney movie "Cinderella." I made my own book of spells and played with the dog, waving my "magic" wand. I think I scared my mother, because she sat me down and asked me if I knew the difference between real and makebelieve!
I did, but even if I hadn't, real life soon takes care of one's belief in magic!
I love, love, love Calvin and Hobbes. I have two vivid memories from the time I was three years old- seeing my great-grandfather sitting up in his enormous bed and my baby brother coming home.

ReplyDeleteI have a very vivid memory of something that happened when I was nearly three years old - a wonderful, happy event.

Have a great Monday!
I can remember my first day at school.... Maybe I was too busy enjoying myself to remember anything before that.
