Gladstone's Library

Last week Partner-who-loves-tea and I went to Hawarden in N Wales to visit Gladstone's Library and use the reading room.  Gladstone's Library is a private library and charity of which we are both proud to be members since the facilities it offers are superb.

The building is attractive outside and in particular the reading room inside is beautiful.

The light of knowledge is here shining out of one of the reading room windows.

There is a cafe facility in the building called 'Food for Thought'  and there are bedrooms available both for those attending workshops and those simply wanting to be in a peaceful atmosphere.

  2. What a marvelous place. Is it expensive to be a member? I would definitely rent a room for an entire spring season and just read and write and walk! I will have to see what the collection covers.

    1. I pay £5 a month and that gives me access almost every day of the year. I can't recall how much an overnight room is.

  5. Am I much mistaken or have you posted about this wonderful library before? It looks like something that would for sure be my favourite place if I lived nearby. It'd make a great film set, too!

  12. If I lived near I would join it, to support it and have use of it. The building and collection are beautiful and I can see you had a nice visit.
