Friday My Town Shoot-out - Detail

For once I am actually using photos I took recently rather than digging around in my library! If you would like to see what other Friday My Town Shoot-out folk have chosen for the word 'detail' please click here.

A ladybird larva.

Sawfly larvae. The white cells on the left are the remains of their eggs after they have eaten their way out.

A Morning Glory flower.

Petunia.

  1. Hi, John! My father was a nature photographer and amassed an extensive collection of pictures like these. His favorite subjects were extreme closeups of bugs, blossoms, leaves, tree bark and fungi. Have a great Friday and weekend, John!

  3. Great pics, the first is a good catch, the others are good too and are my colours and the rose 'speaks' to me.

  4. Lovely photos as always.
I still think you and GB can be freelance photographers for National Geographic or some other Wildlife magazine.

  5. Super close ups. I never knew larvae of ladybirds and sawflies were like that, and now I will know next time I spot them.

  7. Great shots John. Looks like our link up is missing however or did I just miss it. I like the 2nd photo for the best detail.

  8. I'm wondering if you're blushing as prettily as that rose!! No one could argue with Adrian, that first shot is a gem but my pick is the "remains". I've added your link in the comments on FMTSO. Rebecca is away and I can't fix the prob.

  11. I was astonished at the ladybird larva. I suddenly occurred to me that I can't recall seeing ladybirds on Lewis. My petunias which were set to flourish with the wonderful 12 days of sun before Helen and Ian arrived have now been ruined my the gales and rain of the last few days. Hopefully if we have some more sun they will flourish again.
